Since coming onto the scene, Jennifer Lawrence has time and time again brought the world a big breath of fresh air. Even after becoming one of the biggest stars in the world, JLaw has kept it real in Hollywood delivering perfectly candid interviews wherever she roams.
We love Jennifer Lawrence for her ability to shoot an incredible Dior campaign and simultaneously gain the nickname Katpiss Neverclean on the set of Hunger Games. For never giving in to the pressures of Hollywood and for always remaining the hilarious, intelligent, talented tomboy we love, we salute you Jennifer Lawrence.
If like us, you can’t get enough of this girl, here are 13 things you didn’t know about Jennifer Lawrence:
#1 – Jennifer started her career in modelling.
Putting those all-American good looks to use, J-Law landed gigs with brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, although she never made it into the catalogue… When her agent investigated into why she didn’t make the cut, the company simply mailed the shots back, showing Lawrence preferring to take part in a hard game of football on the shoot.
#2 – Lawrence has a small tattoo on her hand that says H2O.
Why? She says “It’s just H2O, to remind me to drink more water, I’ve never had a symbol or a quote that was so important to me that I wanted it tattooed on me. So I was like, I’m going to need to stay hydrated. Forever. It’s very practical.” However the symbol is incorrect with the 2 on her hand being high when it should be low. Oops.
# 3 – She had almonds, her phone, a Baby Ruth, and Laffy Taffy in her purse at the 2013 Academy Awards.
Of Oscars morning she told Vogue “The process this morning was so stressful, I felt like Steve Martin in Father of the Bride, watching my house just be torn apart,” she added. “My whole family was there getting ready, my friends stopped by, it was kind of fun but mostly chaotic.”
#4 – JLaw grew up in Louisville, Kentucky.
She learnt to ride and break in untamed stallions and she gained a deformed tailbone for her efforts.
#5 – JLaw graduated from school two years early.
Not only is she beautiful and entertaining, she is also incredibly smart, finishing school early as a straight A’s student to start the pursuit of her dream career.
#6 – She holds a 2015 Guinness World Record
Yep, Jennifer received a Guinness World Record for being the highest grossing action heroine of all time for her role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games.
#7 – She has two older brothers, Ben and Blaine. Her mum ran a summer day camp and her dad was a construction worker.
#8 – JLaw trained with a four-time Olympian archer from Georgia (the country, not the state) to prepare for her role as Katniss
#9 – She was ‘discovered’ at age 14 in Union Square, New York, by a modelling agent when on holiday with her family.
#10 – She had to prove to the producers of Winter’s Bone that she wasn’t “too pretty.”
To prove she was suited to play the lead role, Jennifer walked through snow to the audition – deliberately showing up sweaty, with a runny nose, and hair that she hadn’t washed in a week. Winter’s Bone earned Lawrence her first Oscar nomination.
#11 – For her role in Winter’s Bone she skinned and gutted a squirrel.
She also chopped wood and learned to shoot rifles as part of playing her character Ree Dolly.
#12 – She likes to tumble.
Lawrence fell on the way to collect her Oscar in 2013, AGAIN in 2014, and most recently the star fell at the Madrid premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
#13 – When she was breaking into acting, she appeared in a commercial for MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen, mocking the shows subjects in perfect JLaw style.
